For nearly 20 years Amanda has run her own business dressing brides, their attendants and various other members of the bridal party including Mums and items for the male members of the party such as waistcoats, cravats or ties. She offers an individual design service by appointment.

First Amanda sits down with the bride to discuss the style and look that she wishes to achieve for her dress and the wedding day as a whole. The brides wishes are paramount so Amanda will then produce sketches incorporating all the design details that are discussed until the bride is sure her dress is perfect. After that fabric samples can be viewed and decisions made on weight, colour and type of fabric that is needed to create the look that has been chosen. Amanda uses a wide range of fabrics including beautiful silk satins, crepes and chiffons.
When the bride is completely happy with her choices it is time for the next stage. Measurements will be taken and a calico toile is made up to ensure a perfect, individual fit is achieved. Further fittings follow when small adjustments are made to the actual dress and the design perfected. Dresses are usually completed weeks before the wedding day but if any final adjustments need to be made they can be done at the last minute.

Attendants including bridesmaids and page boys can also be designed to complement and tie in with the whole theme of the wedding.
Prices for wedding dresses start from £500 but Amanda will always try and accommodate any reasonable budget.

Amanda gained experience working for a designer for a few years, helping to produce dresses for Libertys and Harrods plus many other bridal shops around the country. She also gives private tuition and regularly teaches Learning to Sew at a local college.
